Ending routes and save preparation: the deal, solo, Lacra or the Manumits

Prepare a reusable finale save, distinguish companion departures from personal quests, and compare recorded branches without confusing early endings with the deadline.

Updated Sep 7, 2026Dawnwalker Wiki

This guide discusses story outcomes. Outcome details are folded where possible; open them when you are ready.

Save before accepting a finale action. To compare routes, separate companion preparation from departure. Waiting for another sunrise in front of the final fight cannot replace an earlier save with the right quests available.

Start with the checklist below. Route details are inside expandable spoiler sections.

Four checks before departing

  1. Record the current date and remaining time. If rescuing your family matters, do not consume the deadline on unrelated collections.
  2. Check the companion quest you need. Meeting Lacra or the Manumits once is not the same as preparing their departure.
  3. Keep a manual save in the open world before accepting the finale. Save again separately after completing additional companion preparation.
  4. Check the loadout you will actually use. Equipped abilities, quickslots, sword and claw arts, and recovery supplies all matter more than unspent options in a menu.

Saving your mother during the prologue preserves her story outcome. It is not a sound basis for claiming that her earlier death blocks every ending. Treat individual achievement conditions separately from assumptions about who is alive.

Read the journal before choosing a departure

The common Court progression deals with Ambrus, Xanthe and Bakir, then checks the new edict and Brencis's invitation. Preserve a save when A Deal with the Devil appears. If no letter arrives, inspect actual Court progress and whether the new edict has resolved, rather than matching a video's total playtime.

Lacra's Midnight Reckoning and Crake's Rise at Dawn provide different departure points. Their personal scenes are covered in the relationship guide. Starting a romance and choosing a companion for the finale are different actions.

Check the boyars and edicts in the Court panel, then confirm the quest and companion associated with your chosen departure.In-game tutorial · Rebel Wolves

Four main routes

The supplied P47 footage at 11:24 shows the bargain and marking requirement. It is not a button that rescues everybody without further action.

The same player's P49 at 07:09 demonstrates severe family consequences after attacking during negotiations. Preserve your earlier save before testing a sword-marked dialogue option. Recorded outcomes belong to that route and save, including circumstances that may differ from yours.

Early endings are different from missing the deadline

Waiting, training and timed activities all affect the family's deadline. Use a separate save when deliberately testing a failure state.In-game tutorial · Rebel Wolves
Show early castle access, leaving the valley and the dream
  • Early castle assault: an open-world approach is different from the first confrontation during the prologue Mass. A video titled a 'prologue ending' may include the exploration immediately afterward. A recorded success is not a guarantee that an unprepared low-level character will win.
  • A Hero They Deserve: the departure in western Briar Sloughs, around Coward's Path, provides an early exit. Night movement helps reach it. Do not confuse that route with the broken bridge used for collecting equipment.
  • Together Forever: staying in Home Sweet Home's dream differs from completing its escape objective. If you came for Arbiter materials, finish the escape and return to reality before collecting them.
  • Time Runs Out: exhausting the 30 days changes the family's fate, while further play remains possible. It is not a shortcut that completes unfinished side quests.

What to compareRecordingUseful checkpoint
Negotiation and bargainP47, P48Terms and the follow-up action
Attacking during negotiationsP49Consequences of that branch
Manumit departureP50, P51, P52Assembly, assault and subsequent variations
Lacra departureP53, P54Companion departure and the final sequence

If your objective, companion or date differs from the recording, identify that difference before following its next step. A useful comparison starts at the same quest state; two different epilogue speeches alone cannot establish which earlier choice caused the difference.
